My sister came out of Mummy's Tummy!

So Mum was on bed rest until 34 weeks. She was feeling really uncomfortable, backache and contractions but the ultrasound at 34 showed everything was good. On Dec 14th and 11:30 pm her water broke. Mum and Dad met Leah at the hospital. Because she was a month early they needed to go to Cranbrook in an Ambulance. Leah and Mum were very worried Aleena would be born in the ambulance because I was born so quickly, but contractions were not that strong and they made it to Cranbrook. Contractions were tolerable until around 4 am. Mum was 8 cm dilated. She got some pain meds and was feeling pretty good about the labor. Contractions started to get really strong and painful but for and hour and half there was no more dilation. Mum was in a lot of pain and really tired. Leah suspected that Aleena was face up and called the obstetrician. He came and did an ultrasound and confirmed that she was face up. He suggested an epidural and oxytocin. Mum was relieved that she would be getting an epidural. While they were waiting for the epidural Leah then had mum change positions and gave her something under her tongue. Shorty after she turned and Mum was ready to push. She was screaming for the epidural and didn't think she could do it. On the first push Aleena crowned and on the second push she literally came flying out, Dad thought she was going to fly off the end of the bed! She came out crying and looked good, mum was surprised expecting a tiny baby. She weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces, great for being a month early. Dad got the cut the cord but then she was taken to the nursery, where they had an IV line put into her umbilical cord and given oxygen and put on monitors. Mum cried when she saw her it was pretty scary. Aleena was only on oxygen for a couple hours and she showed no signs of any problems. Mum fianlly got to hold her 8 hours after she was born. She stayed in the nursery for two days, only allowed out for short periods to be fed. They thought she would need a feeding tube but she turned out to be a feeding champ, even better than I was. I was so excited when I got to see her, I couldn't wait to hold her and kiss her head. I love being a big brother. I am also a good helper, getting diapers and blankets for her. Mum and Aleena were allowed to come home after 3 days. Mum is so happy she is doing so well for a preemie.
